In 2000 a typical mobile phone was about a quarter metal by weight. Most of the rest was plastic, with some ceramics. In 2016 the U.S. Geological Survey listed examples of the mined materials that go into a mobile device and the parts that use them. This page takes that list, adds cobalt for batteries that use it, and shows which countries produced each material in 2025.
